Weekly Roundup #013

Weekly Roundup #013

Oh hai there! How goes it? This week I've been slowly sharing the different elements of the Beyond Tellerrand titles on my Insta and Bluesky, but I'm going to combine it all into one mega-BTS-blog here realllll soon. The excellent photographers from the event - Florian and Norman - shared their photos from the event and they're killer, as always! Norman grabs the speakers as soon as they've finished their talk on-stage and shoots a portrait of them. This is mine, complete with new palm ink by Super Roger!

Festival founder Marc also commissioned a recap video too, which looks fantastic. Perfectly encapsulates the mellow, inclusive and inspirational vibe of the event:

I've been working hard on my Gromit Unleashed 3 contribution too... but that's under wraps until the trail begins on June 30th right here in Bristol. Stay tuned for more info on that...

I'm heading to London next week, to speak at the mighty D&AD festival! I'm lucky to get the closing slot on the Thursday afternoon, so I can't wait to bring the neon, noise and nonsense to go out with a bang!

Thanks to a kind user on a Discord I'm on, I was given a DMX light controller set-up for the OP-Z, so after the fun I had putting the reactive visuals together for the BT conference, I really wanna dive into adding sequenced lights to my set-up now! Going to spend this weekend building an additional lego surround to house the lights, so see if I can make myself a portable set-up!

Testing it all works!

That's about it from me for now, more next week! Enjoy the sunshine!

WHAT AM I PLAYING?

I managed to squeeze in another mission in my (very slow) Read Dead Redemption 2 re-play through, which was lush. Other than that, just more TCG Pocket! I'm enjoying the vast amount of videos doing a deep dive into the technical excellence of the new GTA VI trailer! I'm a fan of the Digital Foundry videos, and this one gave me even more excitement and respect for what Rockstar are doing on the new Grand Theft Auto...

WHAT AM I LISTENING TO?

I've really fallen down the rabbithole of the new Linkin Park album from 2024. I'm not sure why I didn't pay it enough attention last year, but I am now and am loving it. A brilliant mix of singing, screaming, hooky choruses and 2000's energy. Their first performance back, with new song and new singer, is a brilliant introduction to their new incarnation...

Shoutout to the always-awesome Jon Wayne and his excellent YT channel. Sampling the original Final Fantasy VII and making a banging beat is the cross-section of everything I love!

Oh and this live rendition of Billie Eilish's 'Wildflower' is bloody lush (thats for the recommendation Jaz!). The ending delayed harmonic stuff is pure human delight. Take THAT shitty AI bollocks, humans being humans and coming together to make something beautiful is something I'll forever fight for.

WHAT AM I WATCHING?

We're not getting much time to watch much of anything at the minute, apart from an episode of 'Ghosts' every now and then (which is still excellent!)

This short documentary about the boss of skateboarding aka Andrew Reynolds is great:

WHAT'S CAUGHT MY EYE?

What's caught my eye... what's caught Telly Savalas' eye more like... (Just hit play, sound up... and enjoy...)
